inside my suitcase: desert beauty

I'm off to arizona tonight for the tucson gemstone show! I am very excited to pick out stones for future collections and also for a little pool time. but the sun and warmer weather means a change in my beauty routine. here are some of the beauty staples that will be in my suitcase:

I discovered sabon about seven years ago and have been addicted ever since. their vanilla coconut body scrub smells unbelievable and works so well.

when I read in WWD that living proof was founded by chemical engineers, I was immediately intrigued. I have been using their products for the past few months and have been very satisfied. I'll be using lots of this to protect my locks in the sun and in the pool!

I have fair skin, which means the sun and I have a complex relationship. harsh cleanser after a day in the sun ruins my skin so I use this gentle cleanser (also, love the seafoam green color!)

I have a fabulous dermatologist and she introduced me to skinceuticals. their sunscreen doesn't make you break out and it provides very solid coverage

during my recent trip to iceland, I visited the blue lagoon and picked up some beauty products. I have been in love with this mask and use it 1-2 times a week. perfect for post-flight revival.

tastes good, smells good, and gives your lips a dewy look. can't go wrong with this

shiny locks

so I initially bought this bumble and bumble hair product because I thought the color was amazing and it would look great in my medicine cabinet {is that normal? because it seemed like a rational reason when I was at blu mercury but now that I write it I think it might be a bit crazy...}. then I used it. hello kate middleton-esque locks! I am completely obsessed.

so if you are looking for a pop of color for your medicine cabinet and shiny hair, buy bumble and bumble's hairdresser's invisible oil

valentine's day sparkle

valentine's day is right around the corner! here are a few of my favorite picks for <3 day="" p="">

my hannah laser cut wood and onyx earrings
(they also come in valentine's day colors light pink, red, and purple)

my janna laser cut wood and onyx earrings
(they also come in valentine's day colors hot pink, light pink, and purple)

my shira necklace in gold with a bright red velvet ribbon

my nicole freshwater pearl and garnet bracelet

custom nail polish!!!

so one of my life goals is to have a nail polish named after me. preferably deborah lippmann. and it would be kelly green (my company color) with a hint of sparkle. it would be called "katie green" (I think its clever...is it? I hope so). in the meantime, I discovered a site called pretty please where you pick your color and name the polish. too cool. obviously I had to make a bunch. my personal favorite was the gold glitter polish that I named "always sparkle", which is my personal motto.

gorgeous graffiti

I've lived in nyc for over 5 years and its very easy to walk around on autopilot and not observe the details of the city. I recently made a pact with myself that I would spend less time on my iphone and more time observing the wonders of the city. here is some gorgeous graffiti I have come across while wandering the streets of manhattan:
I left my heart on elizabeth street...
