fashion week favorites

ever since I picked up my first Vogue magazine in March of 1997 (I was 12), I have been enchanted by high fashion. new york fashion week is therefore a big thrill for me. although I have yet to sit in the front row at a fashion show (a dream of mine...especially Oscar de la Renta, if I had my pick :) ), I still make sure I attend several events during the week and every night I go on nymag.com to view the collections presented that day and anxiously await the arrival of WWD each day. here are a few of the looks that I have adored this new york fashion week:

from textiles to the Taj: adventures in Delhi and Agra

the last few days of my India trip were spent in New Delhi and Agra. I got a chance to add to my textile collection, visit with a friend, see the Taj Mahal, and see some of the sights of Delhi. it was very bittersweet leaving India but I'm hoping to make another trip in early 2013 :).

katie's adventures at Gem Palace: Part II

yesterday I showed you snapshots from my tour of the Gem Palace workshop, now its time to show some of Gem Palace's sparkle!

I uttered the phrase "oh my god" an infinite number of times as Samir showed me some of Gem Palace's amazing pieces. the necklaces, earrings, and bracelets were jaw dropping and as a gemologist and lover of statement jewelry, I was in heaven. although photos cannot do the pieces justice, here are some snapshots from my visit:
