inspiration tuesday: pineapples

last week while walking through the garment district getting supplies for my fall 2014 collection, I came across the most amazing supply store. there were walls of colorful feathers, sequins, trim, and other findings. I literally thought I had died and gone to heaven. except there was no bar so then I knew I couldn't actually be in heaven. anyway...I walked around, audibly gasping as I discovered new treasures. I have recently been having a "pineapple moment" and am really into the shape and color combinations in pineapples. so when I came across these sequin pineapples (pictured above), I was incredibly excited. I'm thinking of turning them into earrings for myself. jury is still out.

here are some other images I've been pinning during my pineapple moment:

inspiration tuesday: christmas morning deliciousness

one of the highlights of my year is christmas morning. my family sits around the tree in our pjs sipping coffee and listening to christmas music as we open up gifts. when I was little the gift part was the most exciting, but now its just really comforting to sit around the tree with the people that matter most to me. after all of the gifts have been unwrapped, we head into the kitchen for breakfast.

I've been spending time on pinterest looking at photos of delicious seasonal breakfast food. here are some items that I wouldn't mind consuming post-presents:

inspiration tuesday: colorful ornaments

one of my favorite holiday traditions is decorating my parents' christmas tree. I don't have my own tree at my apartment because: 1. I have no interest dragging a tree multiple blocks 2. I don't do well with live things, I tend to kill them 3. pine needles, ugh. but my parents don't have a problem with any of these things so they have a tree every year (except that one year my mom decided to have a fake tree. I was 10 and I am still recovering from the experience of a fake tree and therefore a fake christmas).

if I ever change my mind about having my tree, you can bet it will be incredibly colorful. here is some inspiration for my future tree:

inspiration tuesday: aesthetically pleasing hot chocolate

someone recently asked me to name my favorite winter drink. putting aside all things alcoholic (as hard as that is...), my favorite drink is hot chocolate. it reminds me of coming back from a long day of skiing or how I used to bribe myself to go to the library on snowy days during my undergrad years at Cornell (so basically dec-april...). but I have to say pinterest and instagram have made me a hot chocolate snob and now its not just about the taste, its about the appearance, too.

here are some images of hot chocolate that live up to my high aesthetic standard:

inspiration tuesday: turquoise and brown

I'm a big fan of pairing turquoise and brown in the fall months. several pieces from my collection incorporate this color combination. rich dark wood, which I use in large part because its so lightweight and comfortable to wear, is paired with pops of turquoise howlite to create an organic look.

here are some color inspiration images:
