as someone who grew up wearing a plaid skirt to school every day, pattern mixing always seemed taboo. not that I could have worn a striped shirt if I wanted to {hello dress code violation infraction}, but I would never have dreamed about it. but these days I'm all about mixing patterns. floral with stripe, plaid with stripe, polka dots and chevron, skulls and floral...etc etc...
