a family heirloom

recently, a dear family friend came to me with four vintage beads that were once owned by her grandmother. she told me that they were the only thing she had from her grandmother and did not know what to do with them (they were once part of a necklace but after several moves the rest of the beads were lost). she asked if I could play around with them and perhaps put together a new piece of jewelry. loving the opportunity to make something incorporating this family treasure, I said I would gladly take on the project.

the heirloom beads

I had a couple different ideas about gemstones to pair with the bright red beads, but ultimately went with faceted onyx gemstones so that the red beads would remain the focal point. and I thought the black onyx gave the necklace a deco look, which is true to the time period when the beads were purchased by her grandmother.

the end result was the necklace pictured below:

interns needed!

summer is just around the corner and I am looking for interns to help me with marketing, trunk shows, and the development of my SS15 collection! internships are part-time and almost all of the work is done remotely so you don't have to be located in the same city as my studio {nyc}. shoot me an email {details above} if you are interested. feel free to pass along the details if you know someone who would be interested. thanks so much!

bon weekend

this weekend I am off to CT to celebrate my fabulous mom. we will be spoiling her with a BBQ on the back deck, brunch on Sunday, and all getting to be together (my little brother lived in asia for 3 years so she really treasures having the whole family together). oh and clearly I will be giving her jewelry :)

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

katie's favorite Met Gala looks

the met ball is one of my favorite fashion events of the year. actually...no...its my favorite. the oscars are great but women are still cautious about what they wear. but at the met ball, you can step it up another notch. and people definitely do. here are my favorite looks from this uber fashionable evening.

oh and in case you are wondering what I wore last night, I paired black lululemon run inspire crops with a black tank (I went to spin class #glam #coverofvogue).

I love a layered dress. and I love that suki paired bright red lips with this pale dress.

allison always keeps it classy and she did not disappoint. this oscar de la renta gown is elegant and looks fabulous on her. and I adore the color.

after jay-z and beyonce, posh and becks is my favorite couple. I adore victoria. they look stunning together and {even though memorial day hasn't taken place yet...} I love the white theme.

I love diana's look mostly because I love her hair style. and the pop of purple.

LUPITA!!! she can do no wrong and I am obsessed with this look. she took a rish and she looks great. not that she could ever look bad. but still, this is just awesome.

joan smalls always looks stunning and I love this look. I love a sheer skirt and I am obsessed with her lipstick and hair style.

oh reese, you are fabulous.

KILLING IT!!

I am loving this off the shoulder top-cape hybrid. and stripes are always a good idea. nice job, stella.

emma stone is one of my style icons. she always looks great in this color palette. now, to be totally honest I'm not loving the cut of the top but I am loving the color. and the skirt is amazing.
